Wow, a lot has happened in the past month!

I can't believe its been almost a month since I have blogged. There has been a lot going on. We finished up the basketball season and started into district tournament.
We took first in district and won the opportunity to play in the State Championship Tournament. However, the most exciting thing for me was going skiing! I went with my friends February 24th and had a great time. The first run was a little scary and I was a little apprehensive about going all the way to the top of the mountain (just in case it hurt for me to ski and I couldn't get down). My friend, Angie, just said if worse comes to worse we would call the ski patrol to get me down. Our first run was down Chief Joseph Bowl after taking the Headwall Traverse. I was very slow and very careful. I just didn't want to fall. It was a foggy day and that made it even more interesting. When the light is flat, sometimes it is hard to tell which way is up and which way is down. After carefully making my turns and taking several stops I made it down to the bottom. It felt pretty good. So we went again. This time we took the same run I took when I broke my leg. We stopped at the place where I broke my leg and had a moment of silence (LOL) and took pictures. This spot is along the Sitting Bull Ridge run and between two runs called The Bad and The Ugly. After one more run down Wild Willy, we went in to take a break and possibly have lunch. After lunch I went out with some other friends and we took two more runs. It was just so much fun to be with my girlfriends and have my day of therapy.

The state basketball tournament was in Boise this past weekend. It was also a great time. I am ready to move to Boise. They are in the beginnings of spring. People in shorts, flip-flops, and no jackets. We came home to snow still in piles on our lawn. There are some bare spots up against the south side of our house, but still snow everywhere else. I will have to wear my coat to work today and run my fireplace when I get home. Anyway, we had a great time in Boise. The boys had a great time. We didn't bring home any hardware. There was one team that we just couldn't find the answers to stop them. We did win our first game against Centennial, then we played Post Falls and got BEAT! We had the opportunity to take home a 3rd place trophy but after going in to overtime, we came up short and lost to Borah. The boys learned a lot from this tournament. I am only the assistant coach's wife, but I was so proud of my boys. They played their hearts out. One player even continued playing after getting stitches in his chin. Another player tried to play in the first game with a stress fracture in his foot, but it was too painful and had to sit on the bench the rest of the tournament. We took five of our sophomore players to let them experience the tournament. One of them did get some playing time when one of our starters got into foul trouble. He did a fantastic job when he was called to duty. All of these boys are not only great basketball players, but they are amazing individuals. They respect their coaches, families, parents and each other. They are clean cut, moral young men. I am proud to call them "my boys".

Before the tournament I made them some little treats to help them be ready to play ball. They each got a State Survival Kit when we left Rexburg. Then each day they also recieved a little "something". Thursday they got M&M's and a little tag that said "Be Marvelous and Mighty". Friday they got some red gatorade that said on the label Be Tough, so the tag told them to "Be one tough cat". Then Saturday they recieved some Shockers candy with a tag to "Shock the World". Our student body does a chant after every victory in a big circl on the gym floor. They chant "Shock the World" similar to the Hillshire Farms commercial. It is pretty cool. The circle is so big from paricipants that it really doesn't fit in the gym. They could probably go around the whole school.

Our community is just too amazing for words. All I can say is that you would have to be at the tournament to see the crowd in RED and the support they are to our team. Even the Boise schools do not compare to what we have. (And they don't have to travel!) I am proud to be a Bobcat and from Madison.
